Welcome and thank you for your interest in joining Westminster City Council.
Introduction
Westminster is an amazing place. We are home to just over 205,000 diverse residents from all backgrounds, over 50,000 vibrant and vital businesses and three-quarters-of-a-million people work in Westminster. Westminster City Council’s strategy is to work towards a Fairer Westminster. A Fairer Westminster is one in which our communities are at the heart of our decision-making and help to determine the city’s future. By working directly with our communities and other partners, we can build a more inclusive city that celebrates our diverse communities, and where residents, workers and visitors from all backgrounds will feel welcome and safe.
Welcome from Sarah Warman, Strategic Director for Housing & Commercial Partnerships
Thank you for your interest in this role, I hope the following pages provide you with an insight into our ambitions to be an exemplar housing authority that puts residents at the heart of everything we do. In return for your commitment and expertise, we offer an incredible environment to pursue your career, one where everyone is valued, where we nurture talent and where we will foster your growth mindset to develop yourself to be the best leader you can be.
The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) recently confirmed that we have achieved a C1 rating following an inspection of our housing services and we are the first local authority in London to achieve this rating, to date. The inspection follows significant focus and investment by the Council in improving its housing services, which has included improving our repairs service, complaints, and our support for our most vulnerable residents. Central to this has been a focus on improving the frontline service offer, including opening more service centres and engaging and listening to our residents.
Our ambition doesn’t stop here. We’ve got lots more we want to do, and we’d love you to be part of the team that makes it happen.
We are proud of our C1 rating but we know we still have more to do. We are committed to Fairer Housing for our City and our residents. We will continue to learn from residents and provide opportunities for them to influence how we can further improve our services. A critical part of our work is the bringing back in house of the large part of our housing solutions and homelessness services so that they can benefit from the same transformative energy that has secured improvement in other areas.
As a Council our ambition is to be the best employer possible, regardless of sector. The Westminster Way is to create a culture of openness, transparency and integrity by developing our staff to be the very best and through this approach we will achieve better outcomes for our residents. We want passionate housing leaders to help us achieve this and to enhance their own career in doing so.
